This site was created for those of us that yearn to become great guitarists. I can remember back in the day when my brother (13yrs old) was a drummer in a local neighborhood band. I (12yrs old), always wanting to follow in my bro’s footsteps, so wanted to get into that band, play the electric guitar, piano, flute, harmonica, or perhaps even the saxaphone.

I remember the band leader telling me once, “Greg, if you learn to play this instrument, or if you can play that tune on that particular record, then you can become a member of our band.” That was it, point blank, I had to learn how to play something. The band leader had an old electric guitar without any strings on it, and told me he would sell it to me for $5. I broke my piggybank, and scraped together $5 and some change, and gladly forked it over.

I found a string here, another there, I think I ended up with maybe 3 or 4 strings. I had a couple of the current band guitarists teach me a couple of tunes, that I played daily, and got to the point where I can play those tunes with my eyes closed, by memory, but that was the only lessons I ever learned.

What I would have become if there was something like this site back in my day. Heck, the internet wasn’t even around then, and there wasn’t anyone throwing out tutorials and lessons, teaching guitar, freely. So here I am today, promoting this site, and finally learning to play guitar myself. Isn’t life ironic?
